1  Marque Remarks / Suzuki / Re: Deck height - RM250T on: April 29, 2013, 04:22:44 PM
What about a second hand barrel and go back to stock etc. My barrel was stock with only some polishing and went quick.
2  Marketplace / For Sale / Re: RM250B on: March 26, 2013, 06:27:30 PM
Thanks for putting the link up gt and the vote of confidence guys. Usual story in that it owes me a lot more but need to move it on. Bought it off Ray Stevens in Vic a few years ago. Nice bike that goes like a train.

5  Marque Remarks / Suzuki / Re: Do All PE's Rattle? on: February 22, 2013, 11:54:01 AM
I've had acouple of PE's over the years and they all had more rattles than a millionaires baby- boom tish.
You can check the lower engine mounts as the bolt is smaller than the hole in the cases and this can cause excessive vibration- you fit the next size up bolt after drilling the case hole to match etc.
6  Marque Remarks / Suzuki / Re: 1974 RH250 compared to 1974 TM250 - Article REV's Motorcycle News on: February 19, 2013, 11:03:43 AM
Thanks mposs, thats a really interesting read. It emphasises how unique, short lived and factory they were.
7  Marque Remarks / Honda / Re: CR250 1979 OHLIN SHOCKS on: February 07, 2013, 08:27:30 PM
A good set of Ohlin piggy backs (80's)- not leaking and good shafts etc- are worth at least $800.
Call Cramers for a price. The new ones go for about $2300.00 on a good day!
8  Clubroom / General Discussion / Re: an aside to why vmx are declining in price- who, what, where on: February 07, 2013, 08:18:46 PM
50 last year and fit enough to rape a small village............. over a few days.
1973-1983 were my formative years in off-road riding.
Have raced MX,Enduro and DT and classic MX and DT in later years.
Most of the time I have had a modern, with the latest being the very porkable FE390 Husaberg.
I got back into  vintage riding in 1995 with an RM250T.
I still have and occasionally race an RM250B, RM125D and CR125M and a couple of others I just look at and should probably move on..... As an aside, it has got me stuffed why good old dirt bikes lose out to old road bikes in the value stakes.
I would have thought that most bike riders in Australia would have started out on trail/dirt bikes and as such there sentimental/nostalgic value would have kept pace with the road bikes .Maybe they are now a luxury item and we are going through a luxury item squeeze?
9  Clubroom / General Discussion / Re: Cat amongst the pigeons: Why do 76-81 YZ's sell so much cheaper than the others? on: January 24, 2013, 08:55:32 PM
I reckon the 250H is so much better than the G as an Evo race bike. Hands down a far better bike.
The yammies are an acquired taste. They feel so different to ride courtesy of the top heavy mono.
10  Clubroom / Vintage Track / Re: Troy Bayliss Classic on: January 22, 2013, 06:34:39 PM
Plenty of atmosphere and a good vibe but I reckon the track is a bit dinky. Small, narrow, and very hard to pass . Bloody dangerous with little run off and a concrete fence exiting pit corner. Just a small whinge!

That is a great story Johnnie. Classic "barn find". You just never know hey.
12  Clubroom / General Discussion / Re: Grasstrack (long track speedway type) meeting anyone interested? on: December 17, 2012, 08:26:49 PM
The Bathurst long track was on the trotting track I think and I remember one at Bankstown trots. Were they the ones the Ivan Mauger started off? Probably 10+ years ago now.

Sounds like a great meeting. Would love to get there. I'll have a bit each-way on Mr Caslick.

Is that the 125D, 59? Looking pretty. Has that bell crank been blasted and are they adjustible struts I see?  Rear spring off a honda civic!!
15  Clubroom / General Discussion / Re: Chad Reed at the SX on: November 03, 2012, 08:44:38 PM
Track was shithouse. One dirt mound on one side of track for spectators the rest had to watch from the flat. Record crowds at the Island and the SX was an after-thought from the organisers. So much potential for a festival of all things 2 wheel and they dish up shite like that.
