OKAY its been released !!!!     Who says goods things dont come to those that wait ?

Crystal Brook Motorcycle was pleased to announce on the Weekend that it is hosting your Classic Australain MX titles on 9th -10th-11 September 2011  ;D

The event was released at the weekends State Historic titles to a large and big field of compeditors ( actually most i have ever seen- we even had 2 rows deep of spectators this year )  ALL groups were excited and wound up,  to find out The NAts are coming to town.  I feel confident this year we will see a lot of good SA riders in the NAts ;)

Crystal Brook located in the Southern Flinders Ranges and where the famous Flinders Ranges begin, its about as even middle of the country as you can get via broken hill from NSW, Mildura from ACT, Vic optional directions and a short stroll from WA in a straight line :D and about 2 hours from Adelaide.   Just down from port pirie.

We have already had a comitment from the pre68, pre75 and pre85 sidecars guys for a Min of 6 chairs on the start line for each class  :o ( the most i can remember for a while). And they were coming out of the wood work for age pre 75 and Evo.  So its a chance to see the Era's come alive as they were.

The committee wanted to give every one nearly 12 months notice, so you have no excuse for not making travel plans, work holiday planning, family begging and getting in the shed and building some bikes.

We are planning to look at making the ealry classes 3 - 4 laps and the later eras 5 on a 2min track that should allow you guys on the newer stuff time to ride it out for 10 mins and yet allow the classics time to hold it together over the shorter distances.  event numbers to be agreed pending turn out.  Age classes will be run where subscribed.

Its all preliminary at this point ( being so far out) but if you can email back your potential interest and classes / ages we can get a feel for who is committed to come and if so what we can offer you.

There will be camping and caravaning at the track site and there is a local motel and much more out to about 20mins from the track.

We will be able to help unload containers, and will accept them to the transport yard in CB or may be able to assist if there sent to adelaide ( TBA) - we will also provide a shed at the track for reassembly of bikes if they come in crates etc ( yes - you NZ guys we want you !)

And will do our very best to help out any Interstate guys who want to send bikes down ealry and fly down later.

More info to come...........  but send back these indicator sheets from your inbox, so we can keep you in the loop, and print em out and hand them too your mates !.

In 2011 the Crystal Brook Motorcycle Club will be on the national stage in the sport of motocross after securing the Australian Classic Motocross Championships.
The club has a history of running great events and next year will be no different.
2011 will see the return of an Australian Title to one of the premier motocross tracks in Australia for the first time since 2000. The event is to be held at the Crystal Brook Motocross track on September 9th, 10th and 11th, 2011.

The Classic Championships consist of bikes made from 1960 to 1985 with different classes and age groups. The bikes represented some of the most powerful post-modern machines ever made for a motocross track. Most of the pre 1985 bikes were two-stroke machines, with unparalleled power bands and very little suspension which made them arm wrenching to ride and spectacular to watch. The event will consist of some 29 categories which will start from 125cc and elevate to 500cc solos. The are also divides in age groups, but  with most riders between 30 and 70.  This Year Sidecars will also be heavily featured throughout the 3 day event with 3 classes for bikes pre 1965, pre 1975 and pre 1985.

Quiet a few of the bikes that will be Raced during the event are from manufactures that have either ceased production or slowed production to very small numbers indeed.
Forgotten Names such as Maico, CZ, Bultaco, CCM and BSA, makers of some of the most powerful motocross bikes ever. These manufacturers have numerous World Titles between them.

Most of the bikes have been lovingly restored to look better than new, and still have enough power in their over 35 year old engines to match it with the modern day 4 stroke machines.

The Crystal Brook Motorcycle Club has just started an extensive remodeling process to achieve the ultimate track and relive the days of true scramble racing. Modern motocross tracks follow a very strict track model, whereas scramble racing was more free-flowing and open and the riders and machines were more challenged than they are today.

The track is set in a natural amphitheatre, with a creek that follows the hills around. This has given the club a perfect natural area to build the ultimate scramble/motocross track which will test and challenge riders and machines to their very limits.

The Brook track is situated 2km west of the Crystal Brook township, just off Frith Road.
With support from the Crystal Brook Community Association, advertising for the event has already begun with a large sign on Highway 1 just near the northern turn-off into Crystal Brook.
This sign will inform all travelers and tourists of the upcoming event.

Event co-ordinator Graeme Eberhard said he is expecting a great crowd for the event.
“We would expect between two to three thousand spectators,” he said.
“This is a top-class event and will attract elite riders from across Australia including Western Australia and possibly riders from New Zealand.
“It will be a major effort for the club to stage the event, but it will be great to see this class of event back in Crystal Brook.”

POSt your entries in !!!

Dont wait for the online entry, is gone a bit pear shaped.  the modern guys who set up the web / online stuff dont get you can enter so many classes and i think its going to be too hard for them to figure it out on the web and fget it up to speed so its easily to enter, and we need details they dont usually use.

so post post post.... and early birds get there numbers , they dont care how long you have raced or the fact its your lucky number, or you came top ten so you get a choice.   Firs tin best dressed !

Went out to the venue for a ride day on Sunday, had a few laps and all is looking good for sept, its very deep and loomy soft perfect rooster turns.

took some phots before i left so you guys can see the layout of the track as it is now. and this layout will be in this config for Sept prity much.

Start line side on ( white box is the centre of the gates , runs down hill)

Start line down to turn 1-2 ( your reference is the white finishing box on the right side of track there.)

Exit of turn 1 ( then looking over to the back hill section )

Across the back are 2 uphill and down hill sections that go in and out of the creek the elevation up to the top is about 5m high

2nd section of hills

This is the run back from the last hill section across the ridge, along the fence line ( far left) into the corner then around to the front of the clubhouse

Coming back in front of the clubhouse toward the finish line/start straight

the track is wide and has plenty of room and lines !

For those who like not to camp and sleep in a warm bed.......

Port Broughton Caravan Park have approx 16 cabins available on the Classic championship weekend. They will give a 5% discount to anyone that books in that is racing or involved with the Classic championship.

Port Broughton is approx 35km away, about 25minutes drive
It’s a good spot, a couple of pubs, a couple of restaurants, fishing etc etc

It is portbroughtoncaravanpark.com.au tell them the classic sent you  !

Also The Sunnyside hotel/motel at Port Broughton has about 12-18 rooms available as well but they won’t knock anything off the price per room as they are reckon they are already fairly cheap.

For those of you asking about fly  in options there is a bus service that leaves from the Central bus station in town ( about 10 mins for the airport )  this service operates from adelaide up to Port pirie.

there are 2 differant services that go to port pirie in case you are staying there or meeting or sending family there for accomadation so please see there web site for the onther route services.

I have just listed the ones here thatgoes past the track incase this is how you plan to get there or you wife etc.

Return Adult fares from what i can tell are $80 ( $40 each way )

but its an option for you to put on the table.  Im still trying to find out if the train goes that way, local charter operators do that run and so on etc etc.  (its like pulling teeth.)

obviously there are all the big hire companies but i will also see if there are 'rent a ruffies around' that might be cheaper and you can drive share a few peeps in there to cut cost down even further.

I have edited this time table to just show the buses and times of the ones that go past the track and there details if you want to call and find out more.

Updates on options : ( thanks sarge)

The train doesn't stop in the Brook or pirie anymore, so that wont be an option.

Minivan's  seem to cost a bit over a hundred bucks, if you can get one with extra k's, it would definitely work out cheaper and probably more convienent than the big bus ride.  Specially if you pack in your mates or wives
