Akatarawa forest in upperhutt wellington hundreds of trails & river
crossings. no gates & no permisson needed. very big and easy to get lost. snow in the winter.
 bikes going bothways so stay on the left. can go in at Paraparaumu aswell fantasic rideing

this is longgully farm in brooklyn wellinton has full size mx track & heaps of trails ,freestyle track, also a drifttrack built on the airstrip.
gated & costs about $20 bucks . great veiws of south island on a good day shit on a windy one.can also ride the coast track for miles

Use to ride the Akatarawa's alot in the 70's, we would go in through the Maungatooks, some awesome hill climbs, camping and drinking rum....lots of rum....cant stand the shit now.

Favourite riding spot for us that own trials bikes, we take a couple of litres of fuel in a small backpack & spend any where up to 8hours  riding. We can completely disappear from the main tracks in there for all but the first & last 1/4 hour of any ride Grin
