Can I please ask a question, not necessarily of the seller either but anyone who can respond and teach me.

Simply put, why are this bike so expensive.  I look at the bike and just struggle to see where the money is in it.  That's is not a smart arse question, I sincerely wish to learn what it is about this bike (any maybe Bultaco Astros in general) that makes them so expensive.  Is it just that they are really rare?

for me these flat trackers go way back and with the right rider were untouchable..
one good family memory was in the 80`s @ melbourne show grounds watching chris kelly on his #70
bultaco 360 astro sliding into corners one handed waving on others to catch up & doing one
handed wheelies up the straights..

as mentioned astro`s are priceless to the right person wanting one.
condition is a factor but you will pay a hell of alot more for a mint condition astro now days
and there a bred on there own when it comes to style.

pursangs
metralla
alpina
sherpa
matador
frontera

all a beautiful bike to collect for each collector, but everyone knows and luvs the astro`s

DBA,the frame is completely different to the pursang 6,7,8 type.Look at the tubes under the engine. The tank is shorter than a pursang. The tubes under the seat are different and also smaller in diameter.
I think the headstock is angle is steeper, not to mention the bolt on adjustable footpegs.

That's a really nice little Astro NGK. It's a shame you have to sell it but if you do I hope it goes to NSW as both modern and vintage short trackers are about to get a class of their own at Nepean Raceway. Quite a number of Champions, Trackmasters and Astros have come into the country over the last couple of years so the more we can get onto the track the better. Right now the short track moderns will be running in conjunction with the speedway bikes on Nepeans speedway track and I've been told that as soon as enough vintage trackers start to appear, a vintage class or two will be created to cater for them. The advantage of owning one of these bikes is that they fit into the vintage dirt track class criteria just by fitting a front frake so you get a fair bit of bang for your buck.

Stunning Bulto Flat tracker.
I have a 250 motor that is surplus if anyone wants to build a replica.  It is a 250 motor that was designed for a go cart, so would be a good option for a flattracket I would have thought. Nice and clean, sat wasted in my garage.

(also a Sammy Miller High-boy trials bike that needs a new home, but that is another story...would also needa bug jiffy bag to post that!)

Good decision. If you'd have sold it not a day would have gone by when you didn't regret it. Wink

I once sold a Champion framed Yamaha SC500 short tracker and started regretting the sale before the bloke had even left my driveway with the bike in his ute.  Undecided

I totally agree with Firko.
My father had a bike shop through the 50's, 60's & 70's and the stories he told me about the bikes he let escape make me want to cry.
I rarely let anything go but there have been a few exceptions, now all ya gotta do is ride it, the Classic DT titles are in the ACT this year, not too far away from home?  Wink

at the time of deciding to sell i hadn't had much to do with the astro,
16 months ago i was traveling to work on my motard when out of no where i got T boned from the right
and my foot not only got totally crushed with 4 of my toes broken and pushed out the side of my foot
but the guys number plate slashed my foot open  leaving me fighting to keep my right foot which they
had to take part of my left arm to save the foot.. to date ive had over 40 hours surgery and in the next
few months have another operation to have bone graft, fusion and 2 plates fitted, so
kicking over the astro with a left side kicker really hurt but once i got it going that was it, had to keep it  Grin

Jeezus NGK, I've had more than my fair share of injuries but 40 hours of surgery has me pegged, only by about 10 hours.
I know how you felt, I've been to see my Surgeon today and without elaborating I'm not real happy with his prognosis, when I walked out of the surgery I felt like selling everything, getting a divorce and moving to Russia.
The Astro really is a DT Icon and I reckon you'd be mad to unload it, unless you really have to.
Happy sliding, Steve
