Hey Guy's,
Just wanted to put it out there, I'm keen to promote modern Vet MX classes, they could still be combined with VMX classes.
I see in the states they have 30+, 40+, 50+, 60+ & 70+ I'd like to start something like that in Victoria. Maybe combine the day/s with other minority classes (eg 2 stroke, 500's).
Anyone else interested or have idea's?

modern Vet MX classes, As Tossa above has mentioned the WA concept is working well so far. What the older riders of any modern discipline are having problems with is in vets age group is 40 -100. 20 years can/is a big difference on a riders body 40's young and 60's.......well 60 On sunday the class's consisted of Vets and Pro Vets for a State Rd entry. Grid was full. Though its all up to the clubs and there committees to implement it all. cheers A

I agree with the limitations as one gets older, when I was 48 I was mixing with the young guys down the local track but now at 52 my old injuries have caught up with me; my mind wants to hit that jump pinned but my body now breaks without even having a crash!!
I can't believe modern MX has a vets class 35 - 45 bah! I was at my peak at 35 (not that that was anything to rave about lol).
I now realize that I am going to have to respect my body even more at 60+ I really think that we riders should be able to live our dream (and still race/ride) as we get older, and be respected for the incredible tough battle it is just to ride later in life. As a young guy I never realized how tough it was going to get.
I still want to race, I still want to be competitive BUT I don't want to be forced into taking the risk to do that huge double.... knowing if I fail it will most likely mean the end of my riding full-stop. The problem is I guess is that the darn red-mist still appears like it did 30 years ago lol.

Great idea. We at least need a 50 yr + class. 35 yr olds are just kids.

When I was racing in the 1990's the vet class started at 30. So I've been a veteran rider now longer than I was in both juniors and seniors. :'(
